Local Pet Valu store raises over $2,000

The City of Weyburn celebrated the opening of the Pet Valu store back in May of 2014. Since then, it has become quite apparent that the store is a benefit to residents in a variety of ways.

The Pet Valu store provides high quality products and services for pet owners as well as giving back to the community. The most recent venture on behalf of the Pet Valu store, is being a fundraiser, aimed at benefiting both the Weyburn Humane Society and Prairie Sky Dog Rescue. The Pet Valu chain of stores have been running the "Thanks for Giving" Campaign for three years. This year, customers at the local Pet Valu store donated $2,182.00 worth of goods, which were split between the two local organizations. The PSDR organization received animal food, treats and oils used in pet care such as coconut and salmon oil. The WHS received donated items such as a dog igloo, cat tree and cage, and dog/cat treats.
Over the three years, the Pet Valu stores across Canada have raised $503,391.00 which were donated directly back to local organizations in their respective communities. The annual event will see the local community and its organizations continue to receive support through the donations made by Weyburn residents.
