SaskTel is now launching their infiNET network in some residential areas of Weyburn. In completed areas of the city, SaskTel will begin to connect SaskTel high speed Internet and maxTV customers to the new network, with all existing and new customers having the opportunity to sign-up for infiNET once their neighbourhood is converted to fibre.
“By expanding the infiNET network, SaskTel is demonstrating their continued commitment to the residents of this province,” said Jim Reiter, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “Leadership is shown by SaskTel by building world-class networks that enhance the quality of life for all Saskatchewan people.”
“SaskTel is the only provider in Saskatchewan that offers a direct to home fibre connection,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO.
“With infiNET, our customers will be able to download HD movies and music, enjoy uninterrupted streaming, and transfer files faster than ever before. Plus in the future with infiNET we will be able to significantly increase speeds over time without the need to replace the fibre which will allow for even faster connections.”
infiNET is being deployed through SaskTel’s Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) Program, a $670 million investment to deploy fibre optics directly to homes and upgrade the broadband network in the nine largest urban centers in the province.
infiNET offers HD programming and digital TV recording delivered to every set-top box in the home. This allows users to watch HD on up to seven TVs. It also records up to four programs simultaneously with maxTV PVR. infiNET provides amazingly fast speeds – up to 260 Mbps downloading and 60 Mbps uploading – the fastest available in Saskatchewan.
