PAR Contracting receives Weyburn Business of the Year

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce held the biannual Weybex Awards honouring Weyburn business excellence on May 23 at McKenna Hall.

PAR Contracting owners Patty and Ron Evans accepted the of the Prairie Sky Co-op Business of the Year Award from Jerry Ponto, representing Prairie Sky Co-op. PAR Contracting was also the recipient of the SaskEnergy Community Involvement Award at the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce Weybex Awards on May 23.

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce held the biannual Weybex Awards honouring Weyburn business excellence on May 23 at McKenna Hall.

PAR Contracting was presented with the SaskEnergy Community Involvement Award as well as the Prairie Sky Co-op Business of the Year award.

PAR Contracting is an energy sector service provider where owners Patty and Ron Evans believe in growing business to grow community.

"It's one of the main reasons we stay in business. We just love to support the community, and watching the kids grow, and giving the kids a chance to proceed with their dream," said Ron Evans.

The MNP Golden Service Award was presented to M&M Concessions. Owner Myrna McFadden has built a customer first attitude by meeting the community needs which drives the business.

"It's taken a lot of years to get to this point. A lot of excellent staff and I wouldn't be here without them. You're only as good as the people you work with, and I remind myself of that every day because that's how we got here. It's a team effort and I love what I do," said McFadden.

Streamline Oilfield Services has grown from a couple of trucks to a staff of 38 in a brand new shop on 11 acres of land in the last two years. The company was presented with the Community Futures Sunrise New or Expanded Business Award.

"Even to be nominated, that's a real honour, and I feel good about it," said Jason Peterson with Streamline. "We're looking into a couple new markets right now, looking to expand, maybe diversify the business a little."

John Hulbert of Hulbert Construction was presented with the Cenovus Energy Business Leader of the Year award.

Hulbert was unable to attend the awards but via video message thanked his parents, his wife, the staff of Hulbert Construction, sub trades and the community for the support over the years.

M&M Concessions, Pro Touch Signs and La Mirage Hair Studio were inducted into the Weyburn Business Hall of Fame.

The award winners in the community involvement, golden service, new or expanded business and business of the year categories will be forwarded as nominees for the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce ABEX Awards held in Regina on Saturday, November 1.
