The Weyburn Police Service have been investigating several thefts from vehicles as well as another vehicle theft this past week.
On March 13, police received a report that a Weyburn resident had his 2008 F250 crew cab stolen.
Police said the man followed the tracks leading from where he had parked and found a second truck. Upon investigation, police found the truck to have been stolen from Regina. Keys that were recovered from a break-in, in the Radville area fit the ignition of the Regina truck. Police are continuing their investigation.
Also on March 14 police received four separate complaints of theft from their vehicles.
A complaint about a group of individuals going through vehicles in the area of the Weyburn Comprehensive School was one of the calls received by police. The people could not be found.
Another call came from a 35-year-old male who reported that someone had gone through his vehicle. A set of keys was stolen from the unlocked vehicle.
A 35-year-old female reported that someone stole her boyfriend's wallet out of his vehicle and a 54-year-old female reported that someone had gone through her vehicle and stolen a Garmin GPS and a small quantity of change.
On March 12, a 19-year-old female reported that someone had entered her vehicle and stole a 12-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade, her purse, identification and approximately $15 cash.
Police are investigating these incidents and a number of thefts from vehicles in the city during this time.
* Police received a complaint on March 14 from a 67-year-old male stating that a vehicle sped by him while he was walking his dog, the vehicle struck and killed the dog. It tore the leash out of his hand during the collision. Police located the suspect vehicle and charged a 20 year old male for failing to report the accident.
* Police responded to a domestic situation where a 23-year-old male was arrested and subsequently charged with assaulting a 16-year-old female on March 15. He was released on an Undertaking with no contact conditions relating to the female and a Promise to Appear in Court at a later date.
Also on March 15, police made a routine traffic stop and the driver was found to be suspended from driving. The 23-year-old male was charged with disqualified driving and was driven to his residence by an officer.
* Police responded to a hit and run accident on March 16. The suspect vehicle was located later that night and officers conducted an investigation. A 30-year-old female admitted to driving the vehicle. She was charged with driving without due care and attention and failure to notify owner of property damage.
Also on March 16, police found a 22-year-old male leaning against the railway guard near the railway tracks, he was extremely intoxicated. The male was arrested and transported to Weyburn Police Service cells and was later released when sober.
Police responded to a local bar regarding a fight on March 16. A 38-year-old female was the victim of an assault and had been knocked to the ground by a 37-year-old male. She would not provide a statement regarding the assault and no charges were laid.
* A quantity of cash and cheques were stolen from a local dance studio on March 13. Police are investigating the theft.
* Police received a complaint from a 19-year-old male who had been storing his motorcycle in a 31-year-old male's garage on March 12. The older male refused to return the bike stating that he wanted money and would not return the bike until he received it. Police spoke to both individuals and the motorcycle was returned without further incident.
A 72-year-old female attended Weyburn Police Service after receiving disturbing texts on March 12 Police contacted the sender of the texts; the male apologized and stated that he'd sent texts to the wrong person. He offered to apologize to the female. No criminal charges were laid.
