A variety of local artists were featured at Art Farm II, held June 14, at the van der Breggen acreage.

More than 1,400 people took in the festivities on the van der Breggen acreage on June 14 for the second annual Art Farm event.

"This event showcases the culture, strength, creativity and support that this community possesses. It is an honour to be a part of Art Farm, and we feel privileged to call Weyburn and the RM of Weyburn our home," said Rickee-Lee Webster.

Local artists gathered at the van der Breggen acreage to display and sell their works in a fun family atmosphere that included horse-drawn wagon rides, face-painting, food and live music.

"It was magical. It was a beautiful day. The kids loved the May Pole, giant bubbles and painting on the fence," said van der Breggen."The horses stood in the corral and just got petted. They loved it. It was perfect."

Over 30 local artists displayed and sold works, including painters, potters, photographers, metal/wood sculptures and more.

"We are so proud of our local artists. It takes discipline to create enough works and courage to expose and sell them to the community," said Webster.

Art Farm was made possible with the efforts of family, friends and volunteers.

"We are overwhelmingly grateful to our family and friends who work so hard, to the volunteers who came out of the wood work, the artist for all their creations and of course, the board."

With the farm being only five minutes south of Weyburn, the event is sure to be repeated next year.

"We're feeling like doing it again," said van der Breggen. "When you work so hard at something and it's so well received, it's rewarding."
