A Weyburn bowler has qualified for the national youth challenge competition being held next week in Hamilton, Ontario.
Randi-Lynn Blacquier will be joining four other bowlers from the province to form the Saskatchewan team at the national competition March 27 to 29.
"I have bowled against the others who are from Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Humboldt," said Blacquier.
She is joining Amy Pilon, Kailey Leffler, Nelson Frank, Zackery Biehn, Scott Ogilvie and coaches, Jo-Ann Paxman and Les Wardrop.
The 17-year-old has been bowling most of her life.
"My mom's family has been bowling for a long time and I was always at the alley. I grew up here," she said.
To qualify for the national youth challenge competition, Bacquier finished second overall in the province averaging a .268.
The top three girls and top three boys at the provincial roll off qualify for the mixed team representing Saskatchewan at the national level.
The top male and top female at the national youth challenge receive scholarships valued at $1,000.
"I'm pretty excited to go. All the bowlers get to go to Niagra Falls," said Bacquier.
In 2010, Bacquier bowled in the national youth challenge competition which was lost in the tie breaker for the bronze medal.
